ERODE: Kangayam region in neighbouring Tirupur district will get a new engineering college. Promoted by Erode Builder Educational Trust, the college comes with an integrated campus.
Secretary of the Trust C. Devarajan says the campus, spread over 24 acres, has a school each of engineering, management and computer applications.
This is as per new AICTE norms, he says and adds that a director will head the institute and each school will have a dean.
The college at present offers bachelors in engineering in civil, mechanical, electronics and communication and computer science and engineering. This is in addition to masters in management and computer applications offered by the respective schools.
Mr. Devarajan says the trustees hope to develop all the 200 acres in their possession in the next 10 to 15 years to help the institution cater to the needs of the students in engineering, technology, applied sciences and management.
On Sunday, the trustees will throw open the college to the public at a function, which will be attended by Swami Vimurtananda, editor, Ramakrishna Vijayam, Ramakrishna Mutt, Chennai, and M.P. Saminathan, Minister, Highways and Ports, Govt. of Tamil Nadu.
