Tuticorin: M.C. Nandeesha has assumed charge on Friday as Dean of Fisheries College and Research Institute, Tuticorin, a constituent of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS), Chennai. Professor Nandheesha has a Ph.D in Aquaculture Nutrition with several papers published in peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings. He is currently serving as a member of Oversight Committee for Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) of the Global Aquaculture Alliance. He also worked for over a period of six years as Professor of Aquaculture at the College of Fisheries, Central Agriculture University in Tripura. He has bagged “Sahameitrrei award” of the Government of Cambodia in recognition of his contributions to human resource development and developing sustainable small scale aquaculture programmes in 2008. Speaking to ‘The Hindu' here on Saturday, Dr. Nandeesha said that “we want every pupil at this institution to be able to reach their potential and it is vital that everything is done to ensure that the staff will be supportive in rendering their services. We also need to rope in expertise from other institutions to support the staff to take this Research Institute forward in the interests of the students.”

He then said that “the students are foremost in our minds and I want to reassure them that we impart quality education to foster the ideas of research. The pupils can certainly earn support they deserve in terms of education and we would continue to develop the institution.”
