PUDUKOTTAI: The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation conceded the demand of the residents of Araiyapatti and the surrounding areas by introducing a new bus service.

The new facility was inaugurated by the Union Minister of State for Home, S. Regupathy, on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Regupathy said the new service would be operated at the timings suited to the school students and the employees of the local sugar mill.

The Alangudi MLA, S. Rajasekaran (CPI), chairman of the Tiruvarangulam panchayat union, K. P. K. Thangavel and others spoke.

Later, the Minister inspected the ongoing broad-gauge conversion works in the Pudukottai-Tiruchi section. He also inspected the Pudukottai railway station.
