Snow splashing, paint ball shooting part of summer entertainment for children

CHENNAI: A cool zone with snow splashing from five different places, a bungee trampoline and a paint ball shooting are the new summer attractions inaugurated on Island Grounds on Wednesday. The new adventure events have been started as part of the summer entertainment meant for children, said the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation authorities.

Talking about the ‘Snow Splash,’ P.Vinoj of Rohini Group said ice had been spread on a 2,000-sq ft area on the floor. Powered ice shower machines had been installed at different heights at five places.

Each machine would be fed with an ice bar weighing 150 kg. This entertainment would be open to visitors from 1.30 p.m. to 10 p.m., he said. Songs and music would be played at the snow splash site.

As for bungee trampoline, participants are tied to a rubber rope and taken to a height of nearly 30 ft from the ground. This game would attract more youths, Mr Vinoj said.

‘Paint Ball’ is a team building sport, where groups of people can participate. One group hides in one of the bunkers created at the place while the other group targets the hiding members and when the ball hits the group members a washable paint will splash on them.

The team shooting the paint ball on the maximum number of their opponents will be the winner.

Four to eight persons who can be split into two teams would be ideal, he said. This is the first time the sport was introduced in Chennai, Mr. Vinoj claimed.

The events, opened on Wednesday, are open for a month, added the TTDC authorities.
