CHENNAI: A newsperson of NDTV has filed a complaint that he was attacked by a staff of the Government General Hospital, Chennai, on Tuesday afternoon, while on duty. In the complaint, the journalist Sam Daniel said he and his cameraman T. Devaraj were working on a report on hardships faced by patients due to an autorickshaw and taxi strike in the city. A doctor objected, saying no shooting was allowed on the premises without official permission.
The doctor, who identified himself as the Resident Medical Officer, allegedly attacked Daniel and the cameraman and handed them over to a police outpost in the hospital where they were detained for over 45 minutes. Following the intervention of senior police officials, they were released. Mr. Daniel said the doctor had also filed a counter-complaint alleging that the media team attacked him.
