TIRUCHI: A ten-day combined annual training camp–cum–Thal Sainik boys selection camp commenced at the Jamal Mohamed College here on Monday.

A total of 400 NCC senior and junior division cadets from seven battalions, falling under the Tiruchi Group, are taking part in the camp, being organised by 2 TN Armoured Squadron NCC, Tiruchi.

The camp is being held to select cadets to represent Tiruchi in the inter-group competition to be conducted shortly for choosing cadets for the all India Thal Sainik Camp which is proposed to be organised in September in New Delhi.

Cadets will be handpicked for the inter-group competition to be conducted later for selection to Republic Day camp at New Delhi. will be conducted as part of the camp, which concludes on June 10.

The Deputy Director General of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar, NCC Directorate Commodore Sartaj Imam inspected the camp and interacted with the cadets.

The camp commandant and commanding officer of 2 TN Armoured Squadron NCC, Tiruchi Lieutenant Colonel Raman Thapar, senior NCC officers and associate NCC officers were present on the occasion.
