TIRUCHI: The Rajiv Gandhi Health and Educational Trust organised a workshop on ‘naturopathy for women’ at Kailasapuram Club, BHEL, marking the birth anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi here on Monday.

Explaining various naturopathy treatments, the naturopathy consultant of Sri Ranga Hospital, R. Sughumar, said that this field of alternative medicine aimed to bring about the right balance of the five elements in human body.

It demanded strict adherence to stable diet. Unlike other treatments, naturopathy focused on balancing all factors and allowed the body to recover by itself.

The basic remedy for digestive disorder was fasting for a whole day, followed by easily digestible foods. He urged the audience to stay away from fatty foods and condiments, and suggested steamed vegetables, fruits and buttermilk for daily consumption.

The patron of the Club, Meena Misra, and the secretary, Mahalingam, offered felicitations.
