National Voters Day will be observed on January 25 in Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts. Identity cards will also be issued to those who have not obtained them earlier, said C. Muthukumarasamy, Election Observer and Commissioner of Revenue Administration, here on Thursday.

Mr. Muthukumarasamy held a review meeting with the officials of the election and revenue departments on the preparation of voters list.

He told reporters after the meeting that he was satisfied with the officials' work in Krishnagiri district. He said as many as 32,837 applications were received for enrolment. Of this, 31,770 applicants were enrolled after the field verification process and 1567 applications were rejected. All the applications received for deletion of names were fully complied with. Complaints regarding names left out from the voters list were corrected.

Voters who have not received their identity cards can receive them at the designated booths from the officials. Besides issuing the cards to the voters, the officials would create awareness about the right to vote, Mr. Muthukumaraswamy added.

He said, the draft voters list will be published on January 10. V. Arun Roy, Krishnagiri Collector, C. Prakasam, District Revenue Officer, and A. Noor Mohamed, Revenue Divisional Officer participated.
