TIRUNELVELI: Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment D. Napoleon distributed welfare measures to differently-abled beneficiaries at a special camp held at Helen Plarity Rehabilitation Centre at South Kallikulam in the district on Friday.

The camp was organised with the objective of identifying the actual number of differently-abled persons in Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari districts so that their real needs could be ascertained.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Napoleon informed that Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Mukul Vasnik had urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to substantially increase the allocation for his department so that assistance could be extended to every differently-abled person in the country.

The Minister heaped encomiums on Collector M. Jayaraman for having won the ‘Best Collector Award' from President Pratiba Patil for serving the differently-abled persons.
