Ashok alias Ashokan (46), the prime accused in the murder of A.C. Aruna, DMK Deputy Secretary, Tuticorin District, was produced before Judicial Magistrate Court – II here on Wednesday.

Ashok was taken into police custody for interrogation.

The enmity, which had developed between Aruna and Ashok over a deal on a two-wheeler parking lot adjacent to the new bus station in Tuticorin on a lease, has resulted in the murder of Aruna at S.S. Manickapuram here in the early morning of April 30.

Four persons accused of the murder were detained here on Tuesday (May 10). But Ashok had already surrendered in the court in Tirunelveli on May 6 in connection with the incident.
