CHENNAI: Mudhra's six-day drama festival was inaugurated here on Saturday. The festival, to be held from June 10 to 15, will feature five Tamil plays and a panel discussion on the final day.

Inaugurating the festival, industrialist Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti said the festival aimed to give theatre artists an opportunity to showcase their talent. He urged rasikas to support good plays and encourage directors and actors. A. Natarajan, former Director of Doordharshan, said that watching a play meant watching things in real as against television and cinema where no interaction was possible.

Padmasthananda, secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, said he was happy that the festival took place in their auditorium.

Secretary of the sabha `Mudhra' Bhaskar said the organisation would strive to revive the glory of Tamil theatre.
