CHENNAI: M.S. Swaminathan, chairman, M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) on Saturday called for gender-friendly policies at workplaces and educational institutions.

In his address on “Women as Transformational Agents in Science and Technology” at a seminar hosted by the Centre for Empowerment of Women, Anna University, Chennai, Prof. Swaminathan said alongside the need for personnel policies that are sensitive to the multiple burdens on the woman, was the need for Universities to have placement services for self-employment opportunities for women.

He suggested that colleges with home science departments develop food parks.
