The Virudhunagar Member of Parliament, B. Manicka Tagore, surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate Court No. 6 on Friday evening in a poll- related case registered by Tirunagar police.

The MP is among the five accused in the case. He was granted bail by the magistrate.

On Thursday, Madurai Corporation Deputy Mayor, P.M. Mannan, surrendered before the court.

Earlier in the case, N. Suresh Babu, Central Committee Member, DMK, former Deputy Mayor ‘Misa' Pandian and Krishna Pandian surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate No 6 in the same case and had got their bail copies on Tuesday.

The case was registered by Tirunagar police on March 30, 2011 against B. Manicka Tagore, MP, P.M. Mannan, N.Suresh Babu, Misa Pandian, and Krishna Pandian.

Model code violation

They were booked for violating the model code of conduct under Sections 143 (punishment for unlawful assembly), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant), 294 (b) (uttering obscene words in public place) and 353 (deterring public servant from discharging his public duty either by assault or criminal force) of the Indian Penal Code.
