Students' progress will be assessed

TIRUCHI: St. Joseph's College, Tiruchi, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sutherland Global Services, Chennai, to train the trainers of communicative and soft skills.

After a specialised training, the trainers will transfer the skills to students over 120 hours. The exercise will be integrated into the syllabus. The MoU, according to the Principal Rev. Fr. R. Rajarathinam, is based on Sutherland's expertise in training along with material and technical know-how of setting up a language laboratory. The training material prepared by professional trainers of Sutherland facilitates adoption of learner-centric, modular and demonstrative (involving both classroom practice and self-practice for students) methodology.

The training also encompasses periodic assessments on the progress made by students in improving oral English fluency, listening and linguistic and other soft skills that are necessary for employment in IT-based industries.

The MoU was signed on Wednesday by Rev. Fr. Rajarathinam and the Assistant Manager of Sutherland Global Services Chennai C. Sundar.
