Two more PMK men, including a town panchayat councillor, were detained under the Goondas Act in the Uthangarai bus burning case. Police sources here said that S. Kumaresan (38), PMK councillor in Thippampatti village in Uthangarai Town Panchayat and also Uthangarai Town secretary of the party and his brother S. Saravanan (36) were detained.

The detention orders were served to the accused at Salem Central Prison on Monday by the district police.

The duo was part of the gang that allegedly burnt the bus in Thippampatti village near Uthangarai on the night of April 30 to show their protest against the arrest of PMK founder leader S. Ramadoss.

Sources here said that some more persons may be detained under Goondas Act in connection with the bus burning case and the orders would be issued soon.

One more Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) cadre was detained under the National Security Act on Tuesday, for allegedly triggered an explosion in a bid to blow up a culvert on May 2 in Morappur town in Dharmapuri . Police sources said that R. Sakthi (38) of G. Mookanurpatti village was arrested on the charges of causing explosion.

The undertrial has confessed to having triggered the blast condemning the arrests of Dr. Ramadoss and other party, and Vanniyar Sangam, functionaries.

As per the recommendations of the Dharmapuri Superintendent of Police Asra Garg, District Collector R. Lilly issued the detention order.

M.P.Samy, the Pattali Makkal Katchi’s Thalainayar union secretary, currently in Tiruchi Central Prison, was booked for staging a road blockade. Kumaran of Thittacherry was booked for vandalizing a bus in Yenangudi.

Seven PMK party men, including the sitting PMK MLA, J.Guru, have so far been detained under the National Security Act by the Kancheepuram Collector, L.Sitherasenan. According to sources, the PMK MLA and Vanniyar Sangam president, Mr.Guru was the first person to be detained under NSA on May 10 by the Collector based on a proposal forwarded in this regard by the Superintendent of Police, Kancheepuram Police District, Xavier Dhanaraj.
