Adavinainarkovil dam to get facelift at Rs.53 lakh
Work near Gundar dam to be carried out at Rs.35 lakh
TIRUNELVELI: With the funding of Central and State Governments, the Department of Tourism is all set to carryout development activities on an outlay of Rs.1.62 crore at Adavinainarkovil dam, Gundar dam, Manimuthar town panchayat areas and Krishnapuram temple.
According to the Collector, G. Prakash, the district administration has proposed to spend Rs.53 lakh for giving a facelift to Adavinainarkovil dam at Maekkarai on the Tirunelveli – Kerala border. Installation of statues, creation of meadows, park with play equipments, ornamental lights and seats at Adavinainarkovil dam, erection of streetlights, barbed wire fencing around the park, drinking water, improving the stretches connecting the dam with nearby main road, construction of cloak room, toilets and bathrooms and installation of sign boards would be done at this picturesque dam.
Development works such as relaying of the road connecting Gundar dam with the nearby main road, toilets, parking bay, bathrooms, cloak and rest rooms, boat jetty and installation of ornamental lights at Gundar dam and the nearby park would be carried at the cost of Rs. 35 lakh.
Similar facilities would also be created at Manimuthar town panchayat and Sri Venkatachalapathi Temple at Krishnapuram at the cost of Rs. 74.90 lakh, Mr. Prakash said.
