CHENNAI: The Central Bureau of Investigation is probing specific complaints of inadequate infrastructure and manpower in many private engineering colleges across Tamil Nadu. According to a CBI official, hours after the agency conducted simultaneous raids in four engineering colleges and registered cases against former Advisors of All India Council of Technical Education and college trustees, complaints in the form of email and short messaging service started pouring in. “Most of the complaints pointed to collection of exorbitant capitation fee by some colleges that lacked infrastructure such as well-equipped laboratory and library. In a few colleges, we have received information that there is a dearth of qualified faculty,” the official said.
