TIRUCHI: Following complaints of monkey menace, the Forest Department staff trapped a `gang' of monkeys here in the past few days.

They set up a cage with groundnuts and bananas as baits to lure the primates and trapped 21 that were loitering inside an oil mill at Ariyamangalam on Monday and Tuesday. Using the same strategy, the authorities had trapped another 10 monkeys inside a college last week. A forest guard, assisted by another person, was deployed for the exercise. The monkeys would be released in Puliancholai reserve forest. A few days ago, 22 monkeys were trappedfrom Thirunedungulam near Thuvakudi.
