Steps to handle emergency situations like fire accidents are demonstrated

Tuticorin: The National Disaster Management Authority, New Delhi, in coordination with district administration, organised a mock drill at Vinyal Chloride Monomer (VCM) installation near the harbour here on Wednesday.

Steps to tackle emergency situations like fire accidents were demonstrated. A mock drill was also conducted involving officials from various departments such as Health, Police,

Fire and Rescue Service, Central Industrial Security Force and Transport.

The drill also highlighted how the first aid treatment should be provided to the affected and traffic should be regulated to pave way for ambulance services.

A similar drill was conducted at SPIC Ammonia terminal without prior intimation. Later the officials who took part in the drill shared information at a meeting held at Tuticorin Thermal Power Station. V. Velayutham, RDO, J. Ravi Shankar, Dean, Government Medical College Hospital, Tuticorin, Tahsildars took part in the programme.

D. Ravi Chandran, DRO and Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories, was present.
