Tirupur: C. Govindasamy, MLA, said that he had recommended 45 infrastructure projects at an outlay of Rs. 1.83 crore to the district administration under MLA’s Constituency Development Fund (MLACDF) for the current financial year.
“Of the project cost, Rs 1.7 crore will be met from the this fiscal’s allotment towards MLACDF for Tirupur, while the remaining amount will be scooped over from the last year’s unspent portion of the corpus,” he told reporters here on Tuesday.
He said that the works had been suggested evenly based on a felt need analysis carried out across the constituency.
Under the package, it was proposed to construct independent buildings for 17 fair shops situated in Tirupur Corporation, 15 Velampalayam and Nallur municipalities, and 11 Chettipalayam, Veerapandi, Iduvai and Kanakkapalayam panchayats at a total cost of Rs. 51 lakhs.
Similarly, borewells with motor pumps would be established at Appachi Nagar (Corporation Ward 16) and Vinayakapuram (Corporation Ward 25) at Rs. 7.6 lakh, and community halls at Sandhaipettai (Corporation Ward 34) and Sirupooluvapatti (15 Velampalayam municipality) at Rs. 26 lakh.
Three additional classrooms each would be constructed at Corporation Middle School at Thennampalayam (Rs. 11 lakh) and at Thottipalayam Panchayat Middle School (Rs. 10 lakh) and passenger shelters at two bus stops (Rs. 4 lakh).
The remaining amount would be utilised for the construction of three overhead water tanks, two culverts, one black top road, a storm water drain, edifices for six anganwadis and two public toilets in the constituency.
