K. Thangavel, MLA, has alleged scam in the distribution of LPG connections in various parts of the state especially in the areas where tribal population is predominant.
In a representation to the Civil Supplies department seeking investigation into the incidents, Mr. Thangavel had cited few cases as example to substantiate his accusations.
The MLA pointed out that a LPG connection had been found provided to A. Swayamprakasa at Authur taluk in Salem against the ration card number 10/G/0225723. “In fact, the ration card bearing that particular number belongs to Gowri, wife of Keerthagiri,” he said. Mr. Thangavel said that such indiscriminate allotment had been happening mostly in interior areas where the ration card holders were satisfied themselves with using kerosene due to huge delays in getting LPG refill cylinders even if they take a connection.
The Civil Supplies department had promised to look into it, he said.
