A woman-missing complaint has turned into a case of murder.A few days ago, Gunasekaran of Irulandi Thevar Colony, Virattipathu had complained that his wife Latha (25) was missing. The S.S. Colony police had registered a case. The police were tipped off about a trunk floating in a canal behind the police check-post at Virattipathu. The police found the body of the women in a decomposed state with multiple injuries.

It was sent to Government Rajaji Hospital for post-mortem. The body was tightly packed in four polythene bags and stored in the mortuary since owing to stench all around. The police altered the missing complaint into a murder case by registering under IPC Section 302.

Investigations suggest that Gunasekaran married Latha one-and-half-years ago. He was working in a private company in K.K. Nagar, and his wife in a medical shop near home. As there were no adverse remarks about the victim, police could not achieve any breakthrough. The reason for the crime was under investigation, an officer said and added that they are examining mobile phone calls of some key suspects.
