The Chennai Police are suspecting the murder of a car driver who was reported missing early this week.

According to police sources, A. Babu (22) of Greenways Road was reported missing in the R.A. Puram police station on July 3. His father Anbazhagan (46) said that his son did not return home after he went to work on June 30. Babu was working as car driver in the house of a businessman residing at Mandavelipakkam.

Even as a special team was trying to locate the missing man, four persons surrendered in a Chengalpet court on Thursday. Preliminary enquiries revealed that Babu was murdered and his body dumped in Kodaikanal Hills.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Mylapore) K. Periaiah said police were conducting inquiries on the businessman, Krishnamurthy, and his son. “The custodial interrogation of the accused persons who surrendered in the court will give more leads in the case. Steps have been taken to locate the body. We will be altering the case to Section 302 (murder) of the IPC,” he said. Babu was taken to a place in Chromepet where he was allegedly murdered. An altercation with a family member of the businessman led to the incident, the sources said.
