: The father of a 12-year-old boy on Wednesday complained that his son was brutally attacked by his neighbour causing injury on his eye after he failed to turn up for work at the neighbour’s packaged drinking water unit at Tiruvathavur near Melur on Wednesday.

The boy has been admitted to the Government hospital in Melur with a huge swelling near his left eye.

In his complaint, Vivekanandan, said that his son, studying in 7{+t}{+h}standard in the local Government school, used to work at the packaged water unit. However, he had not turned up for work for the past few days owing to preparation for his annual examination.

Irked by this, the neighbour had allegedly beaten him up with a broom that caused injury on his eye.

However, police suspected that the parent had given a false complaint due to enmity. The police were yet to book a case, police said.
