Six candidates file their papers in Tuticorin district
TIRUNELVELI: The Minister for Industries, Nainar Nagendran, and the Minister for Adi Dravida Welfare, C. Karuppasamy, filed their nomination papers on Saturday.
While Mr. Nainar Nagendran filed four sets of nomination papers to the Corporation Commissioner, D. Chandrasekaran, for Tirunelveli constituency, Mr. Karuppasamy filed his papers to Assistant Commissioner (Excise), Shanmugam.
Mr. Nainar Nagendran has declared that he and his family members have got property, cash and investments, worth Rs.1.42 crore.
These include cash with the Minister Rs. 2 lakh, cash with his wife, Chandra, Rs. 1 lakh, bank deposits Rs. 14.29 lakh (in Chennai) and Rs. 10.50 lakh (in Tirunelveli), Life Insurance Corporation of India policies for Rs. 50,000 in the name of Mr. Nainar Nagendran, Rs. 1 lakh each in the name of his son N. Balaji and daughter, N. Gayathri, 300 sovereigns of gold ornaments (Rs. 18 lakh), an Ambassador and a Contessa car (in the name of the Minister) and a Lancer car (in the name Ms. Chandra), agriculture lands worth Rs. 3.66 lakh, a shop at Panagudi (Rs. 50,000), a hotel at Tirunelveli Junction (Rs. 25 lakh), three houses at Nagercoil (Rs. 17 lakh), a house at Sivanthipatti (Rs. 5 lakh) and non-agriculture lands (Rs. 40 lakh).
Mr. Karuppasamy has declared Rs. 35,000 in cash, Rs. 24,746 in the bank, Rs. 10,000-worth investment bonds, Rs. 60,000-worth LIC policies and an Ambassador car as his total assets.
The Mayor, A. Jayarani, former MP, S. Murugesan, former MLA, R.P. Adityan, party functionaries Sudha K. Paramasivan, Kutty alias Shanmugachidambaram and K.M.A. Nizam of Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and others accompanied Mr. Nainar Nagendran.
Candidates for Tenkasi constituency - Rama. Uthayasuryan of MDMK and V. Karuppasamy Pandian of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam - filed their nomination papers to the Revenue Divisional Officer, Tenkasi, Ramanasaraswathi.
Six candidates, including Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Anitha R Radhakrishnan (AIADMK), filed their nomination papers in the district on Saturday.
Mr. Radhakrishnan (Tiruchendur constituency) submitted his nomination to P Manimaran, Revenue Divisional Officer, Tiruchendur.
P Jesuraj, a substitute candidate (dummy) for Mr Radhakrishnan, and two independent candidates, M Khaleel Rahman and T Murugesan, too filed their nominations for Tiruchendur constituency.
Official sources said the Minister in his affidavit, submitted along with the papers, had stated that his family including his wife and three children in toto had property such as land, cars, and buildings, worth Rs 4.63 crore.
Besides, he had cash of Rs 39,000 and 150 grams of jewels with him. His wife possess cash of Rs 25,000 and jewels weighing 2,520 gms. The children, Anantha Padmanabhan, Ananda Ramakrishnan and Ananda Maheswaran, collectively had Rs 70,000 and 640 gms of jewels.
S Daniel Raj, AIADMK candidate for Tuticorin Assembly segment, submitted his papers before Revenue Divisional Officer, S Karunanidhi.
Mr Raj stated that he was in possession of Rs 45,000 in cash, Rs 12,965.39 in the bank account, a Maruti Omni van, and 600 gms of jewels.
L Radhakrishnan, AIADMK candidate for Kovilpatti constituency, submitted his papers to M Muthukalai, Revenue Divisional Officer, Kovilpatti.
The BJP candidate for Thiruvattar Assembly segment filed his nomination papers on Saturday. Sujith Kumar of BJP filed his nomination papers to the Returning Officer for Thiruvattar Assembly segment, Muthiaha.
