Tiruchendur constituency should emerge on top among the 59 constituencies in South Zone in the ensuing Assembly elections, Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's South Zone Organising Secretary M. K. Alagiri said on Saturday.
Inaugurating new bus services on 13 new routes at Kayalpattinam near here in the presence of Transport Minister K.N. Nehru, Mr. Alagiri promised to take up with the Railway Ministry the demand to make the Tiruchendur- Chennai train a daily service.
Recalling the promises made during electioneering for by-poll in the Tiruchendur constituency recently, he said that the DMK government was “people's welfare centric government.”
“People have voted for development and the government has fulfilled all its promises given in the election manifesto and even beyond that. T
he Kayalpattinam people's demands for bus services to Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram and drinking water and road facilities were taken up with the State Government which immediately allotted funds.
The following bus routes were inaugurated: Kayalpattinam-Thiruvananthapuram; Kayalpattinam-Kozhikode; Kulasekarapattinam-Chennai; Kayalpattinam-Tirunelveli Junction; Tiruchendur-Palani; Tiruchendur-Kumuli; Tiruchendur- Ramanathapuram; Udangudi-Tirupur; Udangudi-Coimbatore; Udangudi-Thisayanvilai; Udangudi-Uvari; Udangudi-Arumuganeri; and Tiruchendur-Srivaikuntam.
