Industries Minister S.P. Velumani on Monday had asked the corporation officials to re-lay the damaged roads with gravel immediately.

Speaking to reporters after a flood relief meeting held at Collectorate, Mr. Velumani said that the roads dug up for underground drainage system (UGD) were not re-laid and it was causing inconvenience to the public. Hence works will be carried out on roads affected due to rain and those dug up for UGD. He also said that flood relief will be distributed to the affected people and asked the officials to expedite the works. Mr. Velumani instructed the corporation officials not to switch off their cell phones as emergency help may be sought by the public.

The meeting was attended by Collector M. Karunakaran, Corporation Mayor S.M. Velusamy, Corporation Commissioner T.K. Ponnusamy, City Police Commissioner Amaresh Pujari, Pollachi MP K. Sugumar, MLA's R. Doraisamy, T. Malaravan, O.K. Chinnaraj, V.C. Arukutty, K. Thinakaran, M. Arumugham.
