MADURAI: Information Technology Minister Poongothai Aladi Aruna on Monday visited Vadapalanji and Ilanthaikulam in the outskirts of the city where Information Technology parks are being established. After inspecting the site at Vadapalanji, the Minister told reporters that the Chief Minister was keen to promote IT parks in tier-two cities in the State and was keenly following the works under way.
Ms. Poongothai said that infrastructural works had been carried out at a total cost of Rs.14.91 crore at the Vadapalanji IT Park. Electricity ducts and underground cables had been laid and about 80 per cent of the work completed. IT majors HCL and Mahindra Satyam had acquired 60 and 50 acres respectively. Sutherland Technologies had bought five acres. In three years’ time, a full fledged IT park would be functioning there. Works were under way to establish IT parks in Tirunelveli, Salem and Tiruchi, she said.
