‘14,502 students given laptops during last financial year’
Minister for Municipal Administration and Rural Development K.P. Munusamy distributed free laptops to the 3,475 students studying in 23 Government higher secondary schools in Hosur and Thalli Assembly Constituencies at a function held at R.V. Government Boys Higher Secondary School.
The function was attended by Minister for Higher Education P. Palaniappan and Minister for Rural Industries and Nutritious Noon Meal M.C. Sampath.
Speaking at the function, Mr. Munusamy said that as many as 14,502 students were given laptops costing Rs. 19.25 crore during the last financial year. So far, 70 per cent of the students were given laptops. An amount of Rs.7.05 crore was allocated for Hosur Education District.
Mr. Palaniappan said that the Hogenakkal Drinking Water and Fluorosis Mitigation Programme was on the verge of completion.
About 30 lakh people would be benefited from the scheme, he said.
MLAs K.E. Krishnamoorthy and Manoranjitham Nagarajan, District Panchayat Chairman K. Ashok Kumar, Hosur Municipality Chairman P. Balakrishna Reddy and Chief Education Officer S. Suganya, among others participated.
