Flays State Government at multimedia campaign

DINDIGUL: The State Government has failed to accept schemes sponsored by the Central Government with generous mind but tries to camouflage them, says Minister for State for Home S. Raghupathy.

Delivering keynote address at the multimedia campaign organised by banks, insurance companies, posts, BSNL and other Central Government departments at Palani on Thursday, he reacted strongly to the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's comments about the performance of 12 Central Ministers representing Tamil Nadu.

Listing out various schemes sanctioned to the State, he said 1,750-km long national highway works were taken up for converting them into four lanes.

Minister for State for Finance S.S. Palani Manickam said the Central Government was pro-poor.

Banks were offering loans to the common man now whereas they used to offer loans only to the rich. He found fault with the functioning of some NGOs.

Canara Bank Deputy General Manager S.S. Baskaran, Assistant General Manager P.V. Ramachandran, and NABARD Assistant General Manager K.M. Sharma spoke.

Later, Mr. Palani Manickam disbursed Rs.24.67 crores as loans to 2,142 persons at the camp.
