Minister for Higher Education P. Palaniappan dedicated development projects to the tune of Rs. 1.85-crore, which includes procurement of new vehicles and high mast lamps for the Dharmapuri Municipality, on Saturday at a function held at the Municipal Girls High School.

Mr. Palaniappan dedicated four mini lorries, two vehicles to lift garbage bins, 28 dust bins, 100 push carts with plastic bins to gather garbage, 30 lights for Thadangam fertiliser godown, equipment for clearing silt in underground drainage system and high mast lamps to be installed at Four Road Junction, Madhikonpalayam, Weavers’ Colony, Chinnasamy Street, Annasagaram, Errankattukottai.

Speaking after dedicating the new projects, Mr. Palaniappan said that about 32 metric tonnes of garbage was being collected per day in the Dharmapuri town which has a population of 70,000. District Revenue Officer P. Ramar presided.

Former Minister and Palacode MLA K.P. Anbazhagan, Municipality Chairman J. Sumathy participated. A. Gurusamy, Commissioner (in-charge) welcomed the gathering.
