The flow of water to Mettur Dam was 16,598 cusecs on Friday. PWD officials said that the water level was 74.14 feet against its full reservoir level of 120 feet. The dam has 36.58 thousand million cubic feet (tmcft) water as against its full storage of 93.47 tmcft. As much as 3,000 cusecs of water continue to be released through the west bank and east bank canals to serve drinking water needs of Salem, Erode, and Namakkal districts.

Noon-meal centres inspected

City Municipal Corporation officials inspected all the 62 noon-meal centres in the city here on Friday. This comes in the wake of death of 22 children in Bihar after consuming noon-meals. Eight teams, each comprising health and revenue officials, inspected the centres and verified the quality of the food. The cooks were asked to keep the kitchen clean and ensure that sanitation was given priority. The teams were asked to submit weekly reports.

Power theft found

A team of Tangedco officials from Mettur Electricity Distribution Circle carried out raids at Konganapuram and Kannanderi and found that a few consumers were involved in power theft. Officials inspected 788 services and a fine of Rs. 1.52 lakh were collected.
