Chief Minister Jayalalithaa may flag off the test run of the first Metro train on Wednesday. An 800-metre test track has been specially created for this purpose at the depot in Koyambedu. “The train has been checked on several aspects including lighting, electricity and air-conditioning. We have also run the train for a few metres as a mock-up for the test run,” said an official of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL).

After the flag-off, the train will be tested on this track till mid-December and then taken to the elevated track for testing, say sources. The train, manufactured in Sao Paolo in Brazil, arrived at Chennai Port in June.
