Men poised to prove mettle in TIES meet

Action in the men's section of the Tamil Nadu Inter-Engineering Sports (TIES) meet unfolded at the JJ College of Engineering and Technology (JJCET) here on Sunday.

This is the second phase of the ongoing TIES meet, wherein competitions are being conducted for men in 12 disciplines – badminton, ball badminton, basketball, chess, hockey, tennis, football, kabaddi, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting and best physique – till February 22.

“With the expectations from the teams being high, close tussles are certainly on the cards,” said K. Jayaraja, Director of Physical Education, JJCET.

N. Balakrishnan, Chief Engineer, Distribution, Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited, inaugurated the men's games in the presence of K. Ponnusamy, chairman, JJ Group of Institutions; and S. Sathiyamoorthy, principal, JJCET.

St. Joseph's College of Engineering, Chennai, emerged women's overall champions in games at the end of the first phase on Friday. The final phase of the meet featuring athletics events for men and women will be held from February 27 to 29.
