For the benefit of petitioners coming to grievance day meetings
Dindigul: A special free medical cell has been established at the Collectorate aimed at providing medical assistance to petitioners who come to attend grievance day meetings on Mondays.
Inaugurating the cell here on Monday, the Collector, R. Vasuki, said the cell would act as an emergency care centre to treat petitioners.
To begin with, blood pressure and diabetes of petition would be checked. Eye and dental care specialists would also screen patients periodically.
Special arrangements have been made to extend continuous treatment to the needy persons.
While Dindigul Round Road Walkers' Club has provided protected drinking water facility to the cell, Rotary Clubs and Lions Clubs have offered furniture and equipment, including weighing machine. Besides, various trusts and traders' organisations have agreed to run the cell on a turn basis.
