ERODE: Advertisement agencies that had put up display boards at medians on arterial roads are peeved at the district administration’s action, which without any notice whatsoever removed the boards. The agencies are also in deep consternation over the Erode Corporation, which again removed advertisements in the Erode Bus stand. The agencies, after district collector’s permission in July 2007, had put up display boards by entering into a contract with the Highways Department. As per the terms of the contract, the advertisers will build random rubble masonry, erect advertisement boards and collect advertisement fee from advertisers. The agencies’ contract with the Department is valid for three years till March 31, 2010.
