Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) is expected to implement later this week measures to bring down the long hours of unannounced power cut.

Chief Engineer of the corporation here A. Thangavelu told The Hindu that the chief engineers were having a meeting in Chennai on Monday.

Though the scheduled power cut was only for two hours a day now, consumers went without power for nearly eight hours a day.

Protests

During the last two weeks, the industries here staged protests demanding scheduling of power cut and equal distribution of the power shortage.

Subsequently, the TANGEDCO had decided on a host of measures to bring down unscheduled power cut. The measures were likely to be finalised and implemented after the meeting on Monday, he said.
