: Condemning the rise in the price of milk and bus fare by State Government, cadres of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) led by S, Joel, district secretary, raised anti-government slogans demanding rollback.
The protest demonstration was staged in front of the Rajaji Park on Tuticorin-Palayamkottai Road here on Monday.
Nazareth Durai, State deputy general secretary, said the State Government was “insensitive to feelings of the common people.”
“In the conflicts between the State and the Central Government, it is only the people of Tamil Nadu are made scapegoats.”
Any Chief Minister would normally approach the the Central Government for obtaining funds but in Tamil Nadu, the Chief Minister has shifted the blame on the Central Government, instead after citing refusal of funds by it.
Ultimately, people, who voted her to power, were punished for no reasons, Mr. Durai said.
The cadres staged a demonstration in front of Tirunelveli Railway Junction.
MDMK office-bearers including P.A. Saravanan, S. Perumal and K.M.A. Nizam participated.
