The district recorded a pass percentage of 79.53 per cent in the SSLC examination 2013. The performance marks a marginal increase of .19 per cent over last year’s 79.34 per cent.Nagapattinam district has produced three State rank holders sharing the pride of place with other districts that have produced State toppers.
Though Mayiladuthurai education district has produced three State toppers and nine district toppers, its 76.50 pass percentage was still lower than the district average . Nagapattinam education district beat Mayiladuthurai with a pass percentage of 84.01 per cent.
The pass percentage of girls at 82.99 per cent was markedly higher than the boys’ 75.79 per cent.
N. Pavithra of Guru Gnana Sambandar Matriculation HSS , Mayiladuthurai, has secured State second and district first with a total of 497 marks followed by M.Karpaga Raksha of the same school and K.Pradeep Kumar of Nisha Matriculation HSS , Therizhandur, bagging State third and district second with 496 marks.
Six students – Aishwarya, Mohammad Kamal, Niwas, Rajkumar, and Shobana from Vivekananda Matriculation HSS , Sirkazhi, and Sinduja of Guru Gnana Sambandar Matriculation HSS Mayiladuthurai – have secured third spot in the district with 495 marks.
A total of 26,325 students from 258 schools wrote the exam.
