SALEM: Enthused over the encouraging sale of the products of the Salem district women self-help groups (SHG) in many nation-wide sale exhibitions and shopping marts, the State Government has decided to improve marketing strategy through promotional campaigns and strengthening the infrastructure facilities in the district.

Boost sale

Salem Collector A. Sukumaran said that Rs 3.20 lakhs was being spent on various tiny and panchayat-level sales exhibitions in 20 panchayat unions and 30 blocks where the products of SHGs of local areas were being displayed for sale. These exhibitions would conclude on January 31 at Mecheri. "This move will boost the SHG products' sale in the domestic market, which has high potential and remains to be tapped," he said.
