A man-missing case has been solved with the arrest of three persons here on Wednesday.

Sources said that G. Kottaisamy (30) of Sivakamipuram here was missing from his home since August 24 as per a complaint filed by his mother Ayyammal on August 27. Police enquiries revealed that the unmarried man had an illicit relationship with Karuppayee (28), whose husband deserted her four years back. Her relative Suresh reprimanded Kottaisamy for the affair. But Kottaisamy, against whom murder, attempt-to-murder and dacoity cases were pending, continued the relationship with the woman.

Suresh and one Thangamani had come to the house of Kottaisamy and took him to Paaraipatti to sort out the issue. Four others — Muniyasamy, Gunasekaran, Sahayam and Sermapandi — were waiting there. All of them consumed liquor and in a quarrel that ensued, Kottaisamy threatened them with a knife which he used to carry at all times.

The gang snatched the knife, slit his throat, dumped the body in an unused well and escaped.

However, Muniyasamy and Gunasekaran, who were nabbed a few days back, confessed to the murder but did not divulge the area where the body was disposed of.

Meanwhile, the police who received information that a body was floating in a well, took them to the spot and identified the body.

Fire and Rescue Service personnel fished out the body and post-mortem was conducted on the spot.

Getting wind of these developments, Suresh, Thangamani and Sahayam surrendered at the Judicial Magistrate Court II here and the judge Kavitha remanded them in custody for 15 days. Sermapandi was nabbed in Kovilpatti.

The Sivakasi East police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
