A 29-year-old man who was riding pillion on his friend's motorcycle died after a bus knocked down the two-wheeler on Arcot Road on Friday.

Soundarapandianar Angadi Traffic Investigation sources identified the deceased as Rajaguru alias Rajamurugan, a resident of Alwarthirunagar, who is an assistant art director for Tamil films.

Around 7 a.m., Rajaguru and his colleague Pandiselvam (28) were going on a motorcycle to Mugalivakkam. On Arcot Road in Valasaravakkam, a bus belonging to a private transport company hit the motorcycle from behind and the men fell on the road. Rajaguru was run over while Pandiselvam escaped with minor injuries.

Two killed in accident

Two persons were killed in a road accident involving two goods carriers on Chennai-Bangalore National Highway at Aariyaperumpakkam near Kancheepuram on Friday.

The accident took place around 5 a.m. when a mini-lorry, laden with flowers, broke down on the carriageway. The mini-lorry driven by Ramanjalu of Madhavara in Kadappa district was engaged by flower vendors to transport their consignment from Madhavara to Koyambedu wholesale market. While Ramanjalu and others were changing the tyre, another goods carrier coming from the same direction knocked down Suresh and Kumar, flower vendors.
