A 55-year-old man was murdered by four men at New Washermenpet on Thursday evening.

According to the police, around 5.50 p.m., the victim, Abdul Gaffar was sitting outside his residence on Veera Raghavan Street in New Washermenpet, when the assailants came on two bikes and hacked him with weapons. The men then sped away.

Gaffar was rushed to Stanley Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The New Washermenpet police have registered a case and have launched a hunt for the accused. The police suspect the involvement of Gaffar’s son-in-law Dhananchezhian, who was recently arrested following a complaint filed for torturing Gaffar’s daughter.
