Coimbatore: Raja alias Sivaraj (35) of SKK Nagar in Sulur was hacked to death by a group of three unidentified miscreants in front of the Sulur bus stand in the small hours of Friday.

Even as the victim was approaching the bus stand for boarding a bus, the gang that was following him hacked him to death. Police suspect the murder to be a fallout of previous enmity over a dispute on gambling.

Killed in accident

A truck cleaner Mariappan (50) was killed on the spot along with three cows when a lorry laden with cows on its way from Salem to Kerala fell on its side while trying to overtake another truck. The accident took place near Chintamanipudur on the bypass road near Sulur.

Nearly a dozen cows sustained injuries.
