The Coimbatore District Rural Police on Thursday arrested S. Ramkumar, 49, a resident of Kambar Street in Pollachi, on charges of harassing a minor girl.

According to the police, Ramkumar constantly teased a 15-year-old for the past one week while she was going to school. Unable to bear the harassment, she complained to the headmaster, who lodged a police complaint. As several such incidents were reported from the area, a police team waited near the school. After they spotted Ramkumar, who had come in a luxury car, harassing the students, the police arrested him and also seized the car.

Case registered

Rural Police on Thursday charged three persons with running power looms without permission. According to the police, A. Prakash, 35, a resident of Somanur, and S. Selvaraj, 54, and A. Sundararaj, 34, both residents of Karumathampatty, have been booked.

Cash stolen

A sum of Rs. 3 lakh was stolen from an electronic showroom on Nanjappa Road during the late hours of Thursday. The robbery came to light when the shop was opened on Friday morning, police said.
