Race Course Police on Wednesday arrested Ashok Madheswaran (36) of Kavundampalayam on charges of cheating differently abled persons.

According to police, S. Nagappan of P & T Quarters at Sai Baba Colony lodged a complaint stating that he had approached the accused seeking employment and was asked to remit Rs 8,000 fee for getting a government employment.

The accused claimed that he has some quota which he could use for differently abled persons, the complainant said.

Police on Wednesday arrested the accused under provisions of 384 (extortion) of Indian Penal Code and remanded him to judicial custody.

According to the complainant, the accused was in the practice of cheating a number of differently abled people. Further investigations are on.
