A group of residents from Chepauk assaulted workers of Chennai Corporation who impounded two heads of cattle found grazing on the Marina.

The police arrested one of the residents who was involved in the attack on the workers.

Anand (31), along with eight others, intercepted the Chennai Corporation’s vehicle on Wallajah Road, while it was on its way to Pudupet.

The group of residents assaulted Corporation workers, Yuvaselvan and Prabakaran, who were part of the team that impounded the cattle near the Gandhi Statue.

“The police team was with us near Marina beach. The gang assaulted us after the police left. Then they took away the impounded cattle,” said an employee of the Corporation.
