K. Ramesh (24) was fined by a judicial magistrate court here for damaging the railway signalling system while operating an earthmover for drainage works of Tirupur Corporation on a contract basis.
Official sources said that the accused was picked up by Railway Protection Force officials as soon as the railway signalling system was damaged. “He operated the earthmover inside the railway property in the absence of railway officials, which too is a violation of rules,” sources added.
One person was killed and another injured when a van reportedly hit them on the premises of an industrial unit at Mangalam on Monday. The incident occurred when a worker from Uttar Pradesh took the van parked on the premises, though he did not know driving, and in the process fatally knocked down his colleague K. Karthik (21) and the unit's watchman Gandhi.
