BANGALORE: A man diverted the attention of a construction company manager and made away with Rs. 2 lakh from the utility box of his scooter in Malleswaram police station limits on Monday.
Police said that around 11.15 a.m., Ahmed, manager of Vaishnavi Construction Company in J.P. Nagar, withdrew Rs. 4 lakh from Karur Vysya Bank's branch on 15th Cross, Malleswaram.
Ahmed kept Rs. 2 lakh in his shirt pocket, wrapped the remaining amount in a paper and put it in the utility box of his scooter, which he had parked in front of the bank. A man accosted Ahmed at the parking lot and told him that some currency notes were lying on the ground.
As Ahmed started collecting the notes, the man made away with cash bundle from the utility box and ran away, the police said. On a complaint by Ahmed, the Malleswaram police have registered a case.
Burglars struck at an industrialist's flat in Ashoknagar police station limits and made away with cash and gold jewellery.
Police said the thieves entered Harish Dudali's second floor flat on Richmond Road by breaking open the window grills. The theft took place between October 5 and 8 when Dudalis had been to Mumbai. The Ashoknagar police have registered a case.
Two pedestrians were killed in separate road accidents in the city since Sunday afternoon.
Police said Renukavva (50) was run over by a school bus on Sarjapur Road, off Kaigondanahalli, on Monday. She came under the rear wheels of the bus when the driver was taking it in the reverse. A native of Bagalkot district, she was a resident of Kaigondanahalli. In the other incident, Ramesh (40) of Vijayanagar was killed after a moped hit him on Siddaiah Puranik Road around 2.30 p.m. on Sunday.
