CHENNAI: An employee of a private firm was cheated and relieved of Rs.80,000 in a bank at Saidapet on Tuesday.
Police said complainant Satish Kumar (35) had drawn Rs.4 lakh from the bank around 11 a.m.
A youth who was in the bank advised him to avoid taking Rs.1,000 denomination wads as many counterfeit notes were in circulation.
He also assisted Satish to check some series of notes that were banned by the Reserve Bank of India.
Stating that all notes were genuine, he left the place.
When Satish reached his office, he noticed that Rs.80,000 was missing from the cash bag.
The Saidapet police have registered a case.
